LEARN - GROW - COLLABORATE

Hello
You must be here because you are interested in a different kind of learning experience.

My name is Sami, and after teaching for more than a decade in various private and charter schools, I'm following my passion to educate children in smaller, group settings, where we can help them flourish.

I have been tutoring children since 2013.

Tutoring services from The Learning Garden provide individualized lessons for children who seek enrichment or additional help beyond the school days. This type of tutoring is for enrichment, study skills, homework help, reteaching, beginning reading, study prep, and more.
The homeschool pod at The Learning Garden is a safe place to learn, grow and collaborate. It was established as an alternative to traditional school with a more appropriately scheduled day. We spend our time focused on interdisciplinary learning, which removes stress around too many transitions. Our school day is more focused academically, which allows students to master concepts quickly. We take a topic and then apply grade-level standards to create a curriculum. This enables us to focus on the literacy and math skills that help children thrive.
Elementary school is a critical time for literacy and math skills. This focused approach helps my students enjoy learning, feel proud of their abilities to excel in learning, and thrive in a safe learning environment.
My Story
As an educator, I find it imperative to develop meaningful relationships and create an environment where students learn to communicate, problem solve, and are engaged in experiences that foster their love for learning and love for our community. I believe in developing the whole child and creating a safe environment for children to thrive and celebrate their uniqueness.
For the 2023/24 school year, I ran and taught at The Learning Garden, a small group learning pod for homeschool children. We placed our focus on Math and Literacy, using curriculums such as “The Good and the Beautiful” and “Moving Beyond the Page,” to serve as guidelines for our learning. I incorporated hands-on, project based learning experiences to enhance the curriculums and meet the needs and interests of my students. Within our Literacy block, we read various genres and numerous novels. I taught vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, and writing through an interdisciplinary literacy model. Social Studies is weaved into our Literacy sessions. In addition to academically focused lessons, I also fostered nature exploration, taking educational trips, and building relationships.
